There are many things we love about Star Wars. The imaginative scope of science fiction, the on-going and complicated battle of good vs. evil, the fun, lovable, and heroic characters, and let’s not forget light sabers.
And while many of us daydream battling a Sith (or Jedi) with a dangerous laser-sword, we believe our love and connection to that universe resides not in its placement far far away, but rather its universality within our hearts and identities.
This, of course, is where Frankie and Jude come in. No, they are not the wise sage a la Obi-Wan Kenobi, or the outcast that is Kylo Ren, or even the quirky caregiver we know in Chewbacca. Alas, our fan-tastic “heroes” of this film are more Shakespearean than that: They are our clowns.
Like any great clown, they do more than make us laugh—they teach us the importance of friendship, that any problem can be solved as long as you put your mind to it (no matter how big or messy the results), and that at the end of day, as long as we have each other, we have our gold.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the misadventures of Fankie and Jude.
And don’t forget the Sour Punch.
